3Di Athletics
3Di’s Story
3Di Athletics was founded in 2013 by Omar Abbasi and Abdirashid Ahmed – locals to the Maryland area. Their vision was to become leaders in the DMV in the basketball skill development space. 3Di’s goal has and will always be to create consistent training clinic programs and seasonal camps that will help develop character and identity for young athletes as they strive to refine their basketball skills.
In 2018, 3Di athletics took a leap into the AAU world to complement their other efforts (camps, clinics, leagues and tournaments). Our AAU teams, camps and clinics focus on young athletes who are in middle school and high school.
One of 3Di’s goals is to also foster passion for growth in minority communities. We believe that basketball can serve as a vehicle for personal and social development for young athletes, and we are committed to providing the highest quality of training, guidance, and mentorship to help them unlock their full potential.
At 3Di, we offer a comprehensive program that focuses on skill development, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship. Our coaches are experienced professionals who are deeply passionate about the game and committed to using basketball as a means to promote positive values and build strong, resilient individuals.
We believe that by empowering young athletes to reach their goals on and off the court, we can contribute to a brighter future for our communities. Through our programs, we aim to provide a safe and inclusive environment that welcomes athletes from all backgrounds and provides them with the tools they need to thrive.Whether you’re just starting your basketball journey or looking to take your game to the next level, our camp has something to offer. We look forward to welcoming you to our basketball family and helping you achieve your goals.
What does 3Di stand for?
3Di Athletics lives by 3 main components which fulfills one goal:
Identity The “i” in 3Di stands for identity. 3Di’s focus is to help develop and facilitate an identity for middle and high school athletes growing up in America through athletics and sports.
Three D’s
Deen: Deen is the arabic term for “the way of life.” It also refers to religion. The essence of ones religion is through his character. In all our events and camps, we strive to help individuals develop a sound character which will help them on the court/field and in the real world. 3Di is open to all religions and cultures.
Determination: Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination that will help you succeed. We believe that confidence and determination is half of basketball (or any sport). The people who are always around you are the ones who have a strong influence on an athlete’s confidence. It is a requirement for every athlete who participates in our camps, clinics and events that he must not put down people in any way or make them feel low. 3Di will help young athletes develop a confidence that will help them in school, with their peers and with their respective high school teams.
Determination also plays a crucial role in minority communities as it fuels resilience and empowers individuals to overcome obstacles. Through this combination, we aim to nurture their belief in their abilities, encourage perseverance, and inspire them to excel both on and off the court.
Discipline: The great boxer, Muhammad Ali, once said, “I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.’” 3Di lives by hard work and discipline. 3Di encourages our athletes to sleep well and eat healthy. We emphasize punctuality and the importance of showing respect to others.
